Reflexology

Reflexology is the ancient healing art believed to have originated in China more than 5,000 years ago. Like other therapies from the East, it is concerned with the flow of vital energy or Chi through the body and the concept that when this Chi is balanced, the body will be in good health. When there is an imbalance of energy, due to either an excess or deficiency of energy in a particular place in the body, disease and illness can occur.

Reflexology works on the basis that the feet are representative of the rest of the body with certain places on the feet relating to particular organs or parts of the body. The fact that these reflex areas can be accessed from the feet enables the Reflexologist to affect the whole body working on the feet alone.

It can also be very useful if a part of the body is too tender to touch or if the skin is broken and other forms of bodywork cannot be used on the site itself. By applying pressure and specific massage techniques to the feet, the Reflexologist treats the imbalance, dissipating blockages to the flow of energy which enables the body to regain homeostasis, thus allowing the body to heal itself.

Reflexology can also be performed on the hands, face and ears.

Reflexology has been found to be useful for a wide range of problems, including

  • Stress and anxiety
  • Menstrual pain
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Sinus problems
  • Sciatica
  • Digestive problems
  • Kidney & Lung Conditions
  • Asthma & Hay fever
