Naturopathy

Naturopathy is the philosophy, science and art of healing that aims to support the body's innate ability to heal itself by removing obstacles to health and providing appropriate support to restore vitality and create well being. Naturopaths are highly trained in the philosophies, principles and practice of western herbal medicine, nutrition and medical science.

During a consultation with a Naturopath, the problem itself is examined along with an assessment of diet, lifestyle, emotional factors and other body relationships. Consultations are flexible, sometimes taking the form of a detailed interview, at other times simply helping a patient tell their story. It is then possible to review together, the presenting symptoms within the framework of the patients life. Natural treatment recommendations are based not just in terms of 'the name' of the disease, but also in respect to what is perceived to be the underlying cause within this framework. In other words the Naturopath attempts to remove barriers to health, empowering and mobilizing the patient to restore their own defences.

Naturopathic diagnostic and treatment options are based on patient individuality.

Diagnostic options may include:

  • Iridology
  • Body signs and holistic diagnosis
  • Medical tests and referrals (when appropriate)
  • Functional test referrals

  • Herbal medicine
  • Clinical nutrition
  • Diet and lifestyle modification
  • Homoeopathy
  • Australian Bush Flower Essences & Bach Flower Essences

Naturopathy can successfully treat most health problems, either in conjunction with medical treatment or in many instances as an alternative. Naturopathic treatments are well suited to chronic conditions such as arthritis, asthma, skin disorders and digestive problems. Naturopathy is also highly effective for the treatment of female menstrual problems such as period pain, excessive or disordered menstruation, pre-menstrual syndrome, and fertility issues. Childrens health problems ranging from gastrointestinal upsets right through to behavioural disorders also respond exceptionally well to naturopathic treatment.

An initial Naturopathic consultation takes approximately 90 minutes and costs $99.

Follow up appointments take up to an hour and range from $60 to $80.
